Other neurology services

As you may have seen, my sub-specialty interests are epilepsy and migraine.

Yet, as a general neurologist, I offer a wide range of neurology services at my Perth practice in West Leederville.

Neurological conditions that often require diagnosis and management by a neurologist include:

  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Myaesthenia Gravis
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Neuropathy
  • Restless Legs Syndrome
  • Headaches (migraine or not migraine related)
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Dementia

Please note that I do not perform EMG tests at my practice.

Neurology is all about the complex biology of the human brain. In the last 20-30 years, we have seen significant innovation and new research in various areas. As a specialist doctor, I actively participate in some of the newest research, and I use my 20 years experience as a neurologist to provide an accurate diagnosis, and a personalised treatment plan.

Do I need a GP referral?

You will need a current GP referral letter, to book a consultation with me at my neurology practice.

If your GP wants to verify some of the general information provided here on my website, please refer them to drsusanho.com.au for more background information on my qualifications and sub-specialty areas.

Once you have a referral, please call my practice to book your appointment.

What to bring to my appointment?

Once you have made an appointment, you will need to either bring your current GP referral in a printed form, or make sure that your referral letter has been forwarded to my practice by your GP. Please note that your referring doctor is unable to backdate your documents, so ensure that your referral is current and up-to-date.

To get a complete view on your medical history, I also ask you to bring any relevant and current or older X-Rays when you come to see me.

And, if you are taking any medications at the moment, please bring a list so we can go over them as part of our general assessment.

Also check that you are carrying your Medicare Card.

Payment options at the practice include cash cheque, credit card or eftpos.

What to expect from my appointment?

In general, our consultation will take about one hour. This is what you can expect from an appointment with your neurologist:

  • I will take a detailed clinical history and perform a full neurological examination.

  • I will order some investigations such as blood tests, EEG and cranial MRI if needed.

  • I will discuss with you the working diagnosis, what investigations are required, management plan and next steps where appropriate.

Fees and payment information

Fees for your neurological consultation are set between the medicare rebate (which is refunded to the patient) and AMA schedules. There will be a gap payment. Reception staff can provide specific details regarding fees when you call the practice to make an appointment.

Full payment for all consultations is requested on the day of your appointment.

If you need to cancel your appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice. This will allow the appointment time to be allocated to another patient. In this case, please call the practice and let us know in advance, if you have to reschedule your appointment.

If you have any question in regards to your appointment, fees, payments or the referral procedure, please don’t hesitate to call my friendly reception team.
